Bitter Moon (1992)

Roman Polanski's lurid depiction of "What happens when two individuals scale the heights of passion / love in their relationship, right in the beginning and its down hill from there on". Definitely not for the eternal romantic, it explores issues which mainstream Hollywood will always stay away from and dismiss it as distasteful.
